Jivin' Miss Daisy

The Dynamic 9 piece swing band, featuring the best of London's young swing jazz musicians.

Fronted by the excellent young Aussie swing singer Lizzie Scott and with musicians
hot foot from playing with acts like Jools Holland, Stacey Kent, Bryan Ferry and
Ray Gelato's Giants, this really is an all-star band.

Jivin' Miss Daisy play authentic arrangements from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson and Charlie Barnet as well as arrangements specially written by bandleader Simon Thorpe.

Jivin' Miss Daisy bringing back swinging sounds to London,
performing regularly at The 100 Club,
Carisbrooke Hall & The Royal Festival Hall.

A perfect band for weddings, dances & corporate functions with a retro flavour
also available in more compact line-ups to suit your personal requirements or budget.

Jivin' Miss Daisy's musicians

Simon Thorpe - Bandleader & double bass
Thumps out a mean bass line but can't keep his head still. Jivin' Miss Daisy's bandleader and style guru, he has featured on several cds with Stacey Kent and Alan Barnes, and on TV's Big Breakfast.

Lizzie Scott - vocals
Has been wooing audiences since her debut at Sydney's Harbourside in 1997. Resident in London since 2000, she has quickly become established as the best swingin' Sheila in town! Has appeared with the Picadilly Dance Orchestra, Cotton Club Orchestra, Pasadena Roof Orchestra and regularly at celeb spot Boisdale of Belgravia.
Malcolm Earle Smith - trombone
Top notch artiste of the slide plumbing & no mean crooner! Has recently played & sung around the world in Bryan Ferry's swing band and has recorded with James Langton's Solid Senders and with Digby Fairweather.
Simon Finch - trumpet
Flamboyant, hot-lips blues & swing master, Simon has worked with Tom Jones,
Jools Holland and the Pop Idols big band. And wait til you see him shake his maracas!
Luke Annesley - clarinet & saxes
A fine exponent of the Johnny Hodges style. You'll have seen Luke several times a week
in the house band of the Johnny Vaughan TV show, and he is a regular
with the John Wilson Strings and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra

Alex Garnett - tenor & baritone sax
Has a big, loud sax sound & an even bigger, louder suit. Alex is Ray Gelato's right-hand man in the Giants, famously opening for Robbie Williams' Royal Albert Hall spectacular.
James Pearson - piano
James Pearson is one of Britain's most  talented and versatile pianists.  A
master accompanist and exciting soloist, he regularly rocks the Joanna with John
Dankworth, Ian Shaw and leads the new house band at Ronnie Scott's.  He has
collaborated with artists from Burt Bacharach and Cedar Walton to the BBC
Concert Orchestra.
Colin Oxley - guitar
Plays all the right chords, and nails the rhythm department for Stacey Kent, and the Vile Bodies Orchestra. Plays a great blues solo whilst keeping his head perfectly still.
Matt Skelton - drums
Has rattled the kitchenware for Ray Gelato, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and Harry "Sweets" Edison. Loves to drive the band in perfect swing time.
